In 1988 he acquired the certifications to work in the field as a counselor. Christian had the unique opportunity to assist with the development of a residential program in 1996 that served the Native American people, and he obtained a certification from the Indian Alcohol Commission of California as a certified substance abuse counselor (CSAC II) in 1997.
