What is an Addiction Recovery Mentor?
An Addiction Recovery mentor is a relationship in which an experienced, knowledgeable person guides someone less experienced along their path to recovery. At Rebos, we offer a mentoring program to help improve the lives of clients who have suffered with a drug addiction. They are matched with individual mentors who take them by the hand to teach them how to live a drug-free life.
How Do They Work?
Our mentors will check in with you daily, making sure you maintain your commitment to a regimen of intensive outpatient medical, chemical dependency, and mental health treatment. They talk to you about how you’re feeling and what struggles you may be dealing with and offer encouragement along the way.
Who Are the Addiction Recovery Mentors?
Mentors are generally recovering addicts themselves who can help by answering your questions, walking you through your concerns and fears, and helping you grow. They are your cheerleaders, coaches, and teachers, and they will do whatever it takes to make your recovery a successful one.
What Are the Benefits?
The benefits of having a mentorship are countless. Connecting with another person who knows exactly what you’re going through on a deep and meaningful level helps you to:
- Connect and communicate with others
- Manage and retain relationships
- Build up your self-confidence
- Talk about your thoughts in a caring environment
- Learn life skills
