Family therapy is extremely effective in treating mental health concerns that impact the family, such as substance abuse, depression, or chronic illness. A family therapist will help guide the family through communication problems, behavioral problems or interpersonal conflict. This type of therapy aims to promote an understanding of the client’s interpersonal, intrapersonal, and transgenerational patterns. By linking together all the missing pieces, family therapy is very successful at helping the client achieve long-term sobriety.
